What a certified true copy is
Authorities often need your document but you cannot hand over the original — a passport, a degree, a certificate. A certified true copy solves this: the notary compares the copy against the original page by page, then stamps and signs it as a true and complete reproduction.
Because the certification is done by a licensed notary, the copy carries official weight and is accepted by most institutions in the UAE and, with attestation where required, abroad.

What to bring
The single most important rule: you must bring the original document. The notary cannot certify a copy of a copy, a scan or a photo — the original must be physically presented and compared.
Bring your own identification as well, and check with the requesting authority whether they need any additional attestation on top of the notary certification, especially for documents being sent outside the UAE.
