When you need an attested passport copy
A plain photocopy of a passport proves nothing to an institution that has never seen you. A notary-certified passport copy carries the notary's confirmation that it is a true reproduction of the original, which is why banks, HR departments, land departments, universities and overseas authorities ask for one.

Which pages to certify
Most authorities ask for the photo page, and some also require the residence visa page or the pages showing recent entries. Tell us who is requesting the copy and we certify exactly the pages they need — no more, no less.
If you are unsure, bring the whole passport and we will advise; certifying extra pages later is a quick follow-up visit.
Copies for someone who is abroad
If the passport holder is outside the UAE, the rules are the same: the original passport must be presented. In many cases a relative, colleague or representative in Dubai can attend with the original passport and a short authorization, and we certify the copy in front of them.
For documents that will be used outside the UAE, we also advise on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or embassy steps that may be needed on top of the notary certification.
How long it takes
Certification of a passport copy is completed during the same visit, usually within minutes. Bring the original passport and your Emirates ID, and you leave with the certified copies in hand.
